A Migraine is a Sign of Love

Oh hey, Katherine. Didn't expect to see you here after so long.

Trust me, I am so sheepish about this hiatus I baaaaaa baaa baaaaaaa

I was back in LA for winter break, and it was nice to cut ties and float around for a few weeks. It also hailed for the first time in my life (and I had been dreaming of sunshine for so long). But the weather got its act together, and by the end of break my arms were bare for the first time in five months.

Then France responded with snow, proper snow. Snow so confident it was like, "Yeah, I'm snow and I'll fall if I want to!" Snow that stuck around for afternoon tea.

But it went through that awful process of fossilizing dirt and leaves into brownish ice, then melting and turning the ground to mush. Before, chunks of snow hitched a ride on the toe of my boots. Then it was mud that clung to them desperately, and now, they glisten. For the rain is back.
Dreary rain, a bit of a contradictory frame for my life right now. Because I am irrepressibly happy. There's a quote from Dr. Seuss, "You know you're finally in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams." I felt a migraine coming on today during my opera class, probably caused by fatigue and hunger. That's how much in love I am right now.

This weekend, I succeeded in reverting completely to California time because there was so much to be done about my collab project and I just could not sleep before dealing with everything and why would I want to sleep anyway working on this movie is infinitely more fun than feigning death for eight hours.

Yes, I'm in love with an art project, a tad obsessive even, but all I know is that I am being carried by a wave of motivation, and no matter how awful the weather gets, no matter how many times I am asked for my birth certificate translated by the French consulate, no matter how little I actually know about stop-motion, this is an adrenaline rush I want to feel for the rest of my life. And maybe that's a sign...but I'm not yet willing to face it.

P.S. For once, France smiled and looked pretty...not a single dog poop in sight in these photos.

Chocolate Surprise #4: The Final One

I waited until Christmas Eve Eve to make this, right before going to bed. In the morning I threw on some clothes and left for the train station.

I had been debating between a stop motion and a regular vlog. Of course, the vlog would have been much easier, but I was frazzled and I hadn't showered yet so I looked pretty nasty and the stop motion won. I'm pleasantly surprised by how it turned out, considering my left hand was my tripod and I blindly moved the pieces while the camera stayed as still as it could be in my face.

And the surprise inside is definitely the coolest out of the set...I think maybe my faith in these things has been renewed. Until the next hair.

After 17 hours, I'm finally home. Good old rainy California. Wait...

To be honest, I think it would have been a better idea to leave the spaciousness of my room a distant memory. It's going to be fun that first day back in my studio.
